Monday, December 16: All portfolios and individual artworks due to Ms. Bertarelli (to view, give feedback, and upload together after school)
January 11: Payment and entry form due (Artwork approved by Bert and all forms/ artworks uploaded done in December)
January 20: Regional winners announced
January 31 - February 1: Winning artwork due
February 7 - February 26: Scholastic Art Exhibition at RMCAD
February 7: Opening
February 11: Awards Ceremonies
March 7 - April 4: Denver Art Museum Exhibition of selected works
March 1 - 2: Collect artwork from RMCAD
April 5 - 6: Collect artwork from DAM


SUPER IMPORTANT
1. This year, each teacher may submit up to 12 individual works of art and up to six student portfolios. Three works included in each portfolio may also be entered as individual pieces and are exempt from a teacher’s total individual count (but both entry fees must be paid). See full instructions on saa.rmcad.edu.

2. All fees are waived for Boulder Valley School students due to the floods!!!

3. Students graduating in 2014 who submit portfolios are eligible to have their work reviewed by the regional colleges and universities offering scholarships to Colorado’s Scholastic Art Award program participants. For each student who wishes to be considered for a scholarship, please submit the following when mailing or dropping off your entry packets:
 • an Artist’s Statement written by the student
 • one letter of recommendation from someone who can speak to the student’s artistic potential
 • a printed copy of the scholarship entry form that the student will complete at saa.rmcad.edu
Any student (grades 7 – 11) may apply for a Young Artist Colorado Region Scholarship. Please visit the

Weekly Challenge 5:

Pick one of these options and listen to Mr. Elliot (pictured above) rock this weeks challenge. Please post it on your blog by Monday, October 14.

W.A.C. Option 1:
- Create an artwork in any 2D media(s) showing inspiration from a famous poem: On Raglan Road, by Patrick Kavanagh.

W.A.C. Option 2: 
- What’s your favorite bad fashion trend? Depict this style in your own original artwork

W.A.C. Option 3: 
- Food ART. What we eat can be very beautiful. Design a food item and/ or meal photograph or draw it.

Welcome to our blog, AP Artists!
Today you will be creating your very own ART blog which I will shortly link to this blog. 

This blog will serve as a digital communication "bulletin board" for us. Please only post items on your blog and this blog that you're OK with anyone reading. I share the link to this blog with many other teachers, students, and community members. I thank you in advance for being a responsible art blogger! If you're every questioning weather or not to post something, please talk to me in person or email me at heather.bertarelli@bvsd.org.

Super important notes: 
1. Please email me the correct URL to access your blog by Friday, September 6 to receive credit for starting your blog and posting your first two assignments. Worth 15 points

2. Please post your favorite two summer artworks with 3-5 sentences discussing these pieces and introducing them to your viewer(s) by block day this week- Sept. 4. Worth 30 points

3. Digital artists only: Upload your 1st weekly challenge (due today- Tuesday, Sept 3. Once again discuss it in a few concise sentences. Worth 10 points


Directions on how to make your own AP Art focused blog:
- First please note that it's easiest to make a blog if you have a gmail account already (consider making a gmail account if you don't have one)
- Go to blogger.com
- Click on "make a blog"
- Your blog should be: Your Name P2P AP Art 2014 (type this)
- Your URL/ Address should be: yournamep2papart2014.blogspot.com (type this)
- Pick your template design, colors, etc.
- Once you have correctly made your blog- click on "new post" and upload your images and text for your first required blog posts (please note, digital artists must also upload their 1st weekly challenge). 
- Email me your blog address/ URL as it describes in important notes above.
